The online catalogue includes entries for archives held in Liverpool Record Office and Merseyside Record Office. Many of the collections are catalogued to item level, but some catalogues are only available at collection level. New catalogues are added all the time and it is expected that all our archive catalogues will be available online by the end of 2012.

Local Studies

The full catalogue of our Local Studies Library is now available online thanks to the recently completed Liverpool in Print project carried out in conjunction with the University of Liverpool. Other local studies collections such as watercolours and newspapers are not currently included on this database. Some maps are included, but this section of the catalogue is not yet complete.

The catalogue also includes approximately 4,000 images taken mainly from two of our major collections. The City Engineer’s collection (Reference Number 352 ENG) includes images on many aspects of the history of Liverpool including public health, housing, transport and major events. The Chambré Hardman collection (Reference Number 770 ECH) includes a variety of images from landscapes and portraits to local scenes including the famous ‘Birth of the Ark Royal’.
